LETRS provides deep knowledge of the Science of Reading to prepare teachers to develop a comprehensive literacy program. This is designed for classroom teachers, teachers with their 316 license, special education teachers, and English Learner instructors. LETRS training for teachers is one of the required approved trainings for Act 20 compliance. In-person sessions will be followed with virtual application with Bridge to Practice and Google classroom in the fall and must be completed for a certificate of completion.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to apply strategies aligned with how the "reading brain" works.
  • Participants will be able to teach and assess students' knowledge of the sounds in the English language (phonetics awareness).
  • Participants will be able to apply and understand how sounds represent letters that can create words (phonetics).
  • Participants will apply knowledge of how and why to teach word parts (morphology), as well as, spelling and fluency instruction. 

This workshop is offered at $900 to those districts participating in Universal School Improvement (LS1) Services including: Abbotsford, Bloomer, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire, Flambeau, Gilman, Gilmanton, Granton, Greenwood, Ladysmith, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Mondovi, Neillsville, New Auburn, Owen-Withee, Spencer, and Thorp.

For all other participants, the cost is $1300/person.

Registration cost includes modules and textbook.
