This webinar series follows the 11/30 Collaborating With Multilingual Families workshop held at CESA 6 and facilitated by LCC Consultant, Lori Menning. The mentor text used for this work (with complimentary copies provided to our 23-24 CESA 6 Immigrant Children and Youth Grant districts) is "Teaching and Supporting English Learners: A Guide to Welcoming and Engaging Newcomers" 2023 Shell Education. The webinars are led by Stephanie Dewing, co-author of this book. 

 

Session 1: Designated and Integrated Instruction for Supporting Newcomers 

 

This 90-minute session will focus on chapters 5 and 6 of the Newcomer Strategy book. Teachers will walk away with applicable strategies to….

  • Teach explicit language instruction within the designated ELD learning environment
  • Develop Academic language for Newcomers within the gen ed classroom
  • Access content knowledge (comprehensible input) within gen ed classroom
  • Demonstrate learning (comprehensible output) within gen ed classroom

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
