OT Network Meeting

Agenda     

8:00 - 8:30: Check in, meet and greet.

8:30 - 9:45: On-demand video, CVI in the Occupational Therapy Setting, presented by Nikoletta Livingston, Occupational Therapist, Perkins School for the Blind (2021). In this video, Nikoletta discusses strategies for occupational therapy treatment with students who have brain-based visual impairment, including four case studies.

9:45 - 10:00: Break

10:00 - 11:00: Vision Instruction services, presented by Courtney Franz, Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, VI Department Lead, CESA8. Courtney will discuss what vision instruction services are, how a student becomes eligible for vision instruction, the ways VI and OT overlap, and how VI and OT can collaborate to assist students.

11:00 - 11:30: Discussion on VI/CVI and occupational therapy services, collaboration with VI teachers and other professionals. Please bring any resources or ideas that you have used with your students to share.

11:30 - 12:15: Lunch

12:15 - 1:30: What’s new? This will include a list of commonly used school-based occupational therapy evaluations and treatment techniques that have been updated within the last 10 years. If you have purchased new versions of standardized tests or treatment protocols, please bring samples to share with the group.

1:30 - 3:00: Work session for CESA 8 OTRs and COTAs. We will work on enrollments and staffing issues for the 2024/2025 school year.
