As a result of this workshop, the requested services will be focused on creating comprehension about digital media literacy. Staff engaging in this professional learning will deepen their understanding and knowledge of this topic(s), and the objectives of this training are as follows:

  • Implementation of student learning experiences covering the following:
    • Fact-Checking Strategies
    • Lateral Reading Techniques
    • Identifying Bias in Sources
    • Critically Analyzing Online Media
    • Analyzing discrepancies in AI-generated information
    • Understanding the Influence of Social Media

About the Presenters:

Frank Devereaux is an Innovative Deeper Learning Designer from the Madison area and works as a consultant for CESA 2 in the Digital Leadership and Learning Center of Excellence. His experience centers on the integration of technology in creative and innovative ways to support student learning in the classroom. Over the past few years, he has been diving into the realm of AI integration, inclusivity and equity in STEAM curriculum, and Design Thinking Projects for the Makerspace that are culturally relevant.

 

 

 

 

Jake Boll's background is in secondary social studies and he now serves districts in central Wisconsin as a Curriculum and Ed Tech Specialist at CESA 5. Some of his favorite topics include equitable assessments, best practices with technology in education, and student inquiry in the classroom. Beyond that, he coaches high school cross country and has a beautiful wife and three young kids at home to keep life busy and fun!

 

 

 

 


 


Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

In-Person Events: Restrictions on our in-person events due to COVID-19 have been lifted. We will be responsive to what's happening within our communities, and guidelines from the CDC and local health agencies for future offerings and will update guidelines when necessary.
