Parents are key to the development of a child’s attitude about reading. The parent also plays a key role in highlighting the importance of reading in everyday life. The teacher is also critical to not only lay the foundation for reading, but to connect the school to the learning that occurs in the home environment. This session will provide various effective reading strategies that have been proven to support reading in the home. The teams will learn many different reading strategies for schools and families that have been proven to be effective. Methods for instituting these strategies and thorough handouts describing the methodologies will be provided.
