In this course, you will learn to focus on increasing the instructional knowledge and skills of new teachers and provide context for the first days of school in order to achieve a healthy classroom climate conducive to a successful school year. You will learn to write effective learning outcomes and the importance of communicating those outcomes to your students. You will become familiar with working with students of multiple intelligences and those of diversity. You will learn to execute multiple effective cooperative learning and teaching strategies, including working hands-on so students learn by doing, as well as utilizing questioning and discussion techniques to guide higher-order thinking and problem-solving in a 21st century classroom. You will learn strategies to assess the progress your students are making. Finally, you will learn to be a reflective practitioner, your students, as well as to assess your own learning as a reflective practitioner. Upon completing this course, you will have the tools and strategies necessary to improve your instruction and your students' learning.
