Best Practices for Students

with Significant Cognitive Disabilities CoPs

2023-2024 School Year

Iris Jacobson and Michael Peacy, Education Consultants from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI). Iris has worked within the field of special education in public school settings as a special education teacher, diagnostician, and program coordinator, primarily in a large urban district. She also teaches as a university instructor. Her focus has centered on students with significant cognitive disabilities. Michael  has worked as a teacher, administrator and currently  focuses on assessment for student with significant cognitive disabilities.

We HIGHLY recommend that Special Education Teachers are accompanied by 1 or more of the following staff members: General Education Teacher, Instructional Coach, Principal, District Assessment Coordinator, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Special Education or Pupil Services. This will increase capacity for leadership to coach and promote sustainable best instructional practices.

Because of the number of meals served and the number of items used each day, along with food product changes from our food vendors, we cannot guarantee that every allergen in the food served will be identified and labeled. Guests concerned with food allergies must be aware of this risk. CESA 6 does not assume liability for adverse reactions to food consumed or items one may come into contact with while eating at a CESA 6 event. To better serve our guests with dietary restrictions or allergies, please go into your myQuickReg account and update the special accommodations section. Notice of a special dietary need must be made in advance of the event.
