What's Design Got to Do With It? Writing a District Language Education Plan for EL & Bilingual Education
Description: This 2-day workshop aims to equip administrators and EL coordinators and specialists with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to create a robust language education plan for English Learner (EL) and Bilingual students within their school or district based on legal obligations that require EL programming to be grounded on recognized educational theory and encompass methods proven effective for teaching EL students, implemented effectively, and include a system for evaluating the program's effectiveness. Participants will learn about specific EL program elements and effectiveness by program type, including newcomer programs and dual language programs, and gain an understanding of the statutory requirements for Bilingual-Bicultural programs as well as federal obligations for supporting ELs. Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in interactive discussion and hands-on activities. Plan templates and samples will be provided.
Cost: $250.00
