How do your students know that the information they find online is accurate and honest? How do they critically analyze the media they encounter every day? How can media creation empower students? These questions are at the driving force of a nationwide movement toward improving media literacy, which the National Association for Media Literacy Education defines as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create and act using all forms of communication. In this session, educators will explore some of the key microcredentials in the PBS Media Literacy Certification, with focus on practical ideas for implementing media literacy in the classroom and developing strategies to teach students how to be savvy consumers of information and media. (3rd-5th grade educators).
