Schools in our area are facing an unprecedented shortage of substitute teachers. Guest teaching is fun and rewarding and highly qualified substitute teachers are needed to ensure uninterrupted learning in every classroom.
You may obtain a Wisconsin Substitute Teaching License if you hold an Associates degree or higher and complete an approved training program.
The CESA 10 Substitute Teacher Preparatory Program is designed to prepare participants to be effective substitute teachers. It is a comprehensive online program you may complete when it is most convenient for you. Your enrollment includes one-on-one assistance in navigating the Department of Public Instruction’s licensing application process by appointment, at your convenience.

$225 for virtual access to all course materials and personal assistance with the Department of Instruction Public website when obtaining the teaching license.
Note: There is an additional DPI fee required when submitting your application for the license. The current fee is $125; subject to change. Contact your local district for possible training reimbursement or other incentives.

Process for course registration:
- Complete registration through MyQuickReg. The CESA 10 Substitute Teacher Training is a series of online courses completed virtually at your own pace.
- Once your registration and payment have been verified, you will be contacted by a CESA 10 staff member with instructions. A staff member at Master Teacher will also be notified and will be sending you log-in instructions to the courses.
- Once you complete all courses, you should notify CESA 10. You will then be sent the Substitute Teacher Training forms you will need to submit to DPI with your license application.
