Creating Individual Learning Plans (ILPS) for English Learners

Facilitator: Lori Menning   EL, Bilingual-Bicultural & World Language Consultant

  • Are you familiar with the newest Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) as described in the DPI EL Policy Handbook?

  • Will you be responsible for creating, introducing and/or implementing ILPs for your ELs?

  • How can the WIDA Standards and Can Do Descriptors be used to align individual student goals?

The ILP is a written plan for an EL that details goals along with accommodations and supports to be implemented in the classroom and on assessments.  This plan, outlined in the DPI EL Policy Handbook, is to be implemented by districts to meet the individual needs of each EL. It is recommended the ILP be created as a collaborative effort by the EL teacher and classroom teachers.

OBJECTIVES:

  • The goal of this workshop is to familiarize you with the newest ILP described in the DPI EL Policy Handbook and provide you with the information and resources to write them.

  • The afternoon will be dedicated to reviewing ACCESS data and creating ILPs that capture the linguistic support for your ELs.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Anyone who will be responsible for creating, introducing and/or implementing ILPs.

  • Teaching teams are encouraged to attend.
