Library Media Specialist Network - In-Person Collaboration and Workshop Day

A Special Day Designed for School Library Media Specialists!

This event will offer various sessions throughout the day, including some that participants can choose to attend and/or offer to facilitate for others. Monica Treptow, School Library Media Education Consultant at DPI, will lead a couple keynote sessions to begin the day. One session will highlight new Future Ready Library Planning tools and the other will focus on Proactive LMC Materials Challenge Planning. Facilitated and supported work time will also be offered. Additional topics and breakouts will be chosen by educators and may include (but are not limited to):

• LMC materials challenge role play scenarios
• AI advances & considerations (e.g., Chat GPT, DALL-E image generator, NovelAI, etc)
• Copyright - important considerations & resources for supporting staff & students
• Genrification and other non/modified Dewey organizational methods
• How to lean into ELA and social studies standards to create meaningful collab opportunities with classroom teachers
• Ways to provide a successful library program when split across buildings
• Makerspace/STEM/STEAM
• "LMC 101" session (conversations about the "nuts & bolts" of library, like CSF budgeting, cataloging, self-checkout, databases, etc.)
• Digital Creativity Tools such as Adobe Express or Canva

About the Presenter:

Kim Stieber-White joins CESA 2 with deep knowledge and experience in Social Justice, Technology and Literacy.  Her experience in schools spans urban, suburban, and rural settings and includes classroom English Language Arts, Reading Specialist, Library Media Specialist, Technology Integrator, and Instructional Coach.  Kim is in the process of completing a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis with a focus on Literacy and Equity.  

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

In-Person Events: Restrictions on our in-person events due to COVID-19 have been lifted. We will be responsive to what's happening within our communities, and guidelines from the CDC and local health agencies for future offerings and will update guidelines when necessary.
