Join us for a series that offers learning, collaboration, and networking around embedding developmentally appropriate teaching practices into academic structures! This three-day workshop will focus on the developmental needs of students at various grade levels and offer new strategies to support social and academic needs through grade-level instruction. This training will allow teachers an opportunity to reflect on embedding social expectations to current structures already in place, ensuring the teaching of developmental practices is connected to academic instruction and not separate. Here is an overview and breakdown of topics that will be discussed in our three days together:

  • Day One (Nov. 28): Building Community and Effective Classroom Management/Expectations
  • Day Two (Jan. 9): Developmentally Responsive Teaching Practices
  • Day Three (May 1): Engaging Academics (how to connect developmental strategies to current classroom structures)

Participants will have the opportunity to not only learn new ways to embed new practices that meet the various social needs of students into their teaching, but they also will have time to collaborate and grow on this topic together. The end product will be to take a current lesson or unit and embed new developmentally appropriate teaching strategies within it; this allows for high-quality conversations around instructional changes we can make to ensure all needs of students are being met within the universal teaching and learning environment.
