CESA #4 will be hosting Learning, Language, and Literacy Integrated Framework for Teaching? workshop on November 16 and 17, 2022, February 27, 2023.  This three-part workshop will be focused on coaching best practices correlated to SIOP Features and Integrating the English Language Development Standards.

  • Day 1:  Introduction to the ELD Standards and integrating with content standards at the unit level. Knowing the multilingual student and getting to know their funds of knowledge to leverage in instruction. Identifying and determining an explicit and purposeful language focus centered on the content of the unit.

  • Day 2: Macro-Scaffolding a unit and identifying the quality interactions needed for meaning making for all students and particularly for English Learners. Identify opportunities for translanguaging and leveraging students’ linguistic repertoires. Map out teacher and students moves for focused oracy for literate talk. 

  • Coaching Session--sign up for a 1-hour session of no more than 5 people per session using the calendly link.

  • Day 3: Teachers will build on the previous learning and delve more deeply into the teaching and learning cycle and quality interactions for meaning making. 

This workshop series is FREE for Title III Consortium teams.  Cost for the workshop outside of the consortium districts will be $350.00 per person for the three-day series.  Pricing adjustments, including consortium discounts, will take place prior to invoicing.

Presenter

Gretchen Lettau joins CESA #2 as a consultant in the Language and Culture Center of Excellence supporting the areas of Language Acquisition, English Learners, and Dual Language Education. Throughout her career, Gretchen has collaborated with school districts in the areas of best practices, EL Co-teaching methods, academic language development, literacy and language practices when implementing workshop models, program reviews, and professional learning.

Participant Cancellation Policy: You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.


Dietary Restrictions: Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.


Weather Conditions: If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop.
