CANCELED: Do your student's "read it" but don't "get it"? Are you looking for ways to actively engage your students in reading, writing, thinking and purposeful talk? This workshop shares strategies that correlate with the core curriculum standards and engage students in learning concepts across content areas. A framework for learning, as well as a variety of strategies will be demonstrated so participants are easily able to implement them into their classroom. These instructional practices include differentiated responses to meet the needs of all students. When students are actively involved a joyful learning environment is created.
BIO: Mary Lou Harris-Manske is an educator with nearly 40 years of experience. She is retired as the District Reading Coordinator for the Stevens Point School District. Often referred to as the "Book Lady", she has given scores of book talks around the state. She and her husband, Ken, are owners of the Book Look, a children's book store. Mary Lou is currently a literacy consultant working with many schools across the state, as well as schools in Minnesota and Texas. She also teaches a summer course for Cardinal Stritch Tools for Learning.

All Others: $150/person
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
