Join us at the WASCD Pre-Conference with Pete Hall!
Pete Hall - Leading for Resilience: Every day, a little bit stronger
Times are tough, and there's no disputing that. Educators are not immune to the challenges, stressors, demands, and risks of teaching and leading in a highly-charged, pandemic-altered, heavily politicized environment. How do we handle this new reality, so we can thrive and not just survive? In this uplifting, honest session, join Pete Hall (a good friend of Wisconsin ASCD and the author of a dozen books, including newly-released Always Strive to Be a Better You: How ordinary people can live extraordinary lives) and explore the biology of stress, embrace two big strategies we can implement to support healthy working environments ("authenticity" and "reframing"), and learn 10 things our brains need in order to function at their best all day, every day. Then delve into the world continuous improvement and discuss a handful of leadership approaches to ensure our efforts toward building resilience are consistently discussed, practiced, and refined. We cannot solve all the world's problems, but we can build a) our own individual resilience and b) our collective resilience to ensure our students get the best of us. After all, it's our duty and obligation to be primed and ready for every child, every day.
*Participants will receive one of the following Pete Hall books (and the others will be available for purchase at the event):
Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies for creating a trauma-sensitive classroom
