Getting Started with English Learners for Small Districts
July 28th, 2022, 8 am to 2pm, Lunch will be provided
This one-day workshop is designed specifically for small districts that have low numbers of English Learners (ELs) enrolled in their districts.
Morning Focus:
-
Intake and Assessment Processes to determine an EL student’s plan of service in the school district.

Roles, Responsibilities and Accountability determinations for ensuring the steps needed happen.

Best practices for meeting the needs of ELs in small districts
Afternoon Focus:
-
How an EL student develops proficiency in the second language and how proficiency is measured and tracked using the ACCESS Test.
-
What EL students Can Do according to their proficiency levels, funds of knowledge, and the assets that they bring to the classroom.
-
How teachers can understand and utilize the Individual Language Plan to differentiate instruction to support each student who is an EL.
-
High leverage supports that scaffold language and content learning.
Who should attend:

Administrators, academic coaches and interventionists, and all teachers who work with and serve students who are English learners.

The cost for this workshop is $100.00 per person and is only available to our Title III Consortium Districts:

ACHM, Bangor, Blair-Taylor, Cashton, C-FC, De Soto, G-E-T, Hillsboro, La Farge, Mel-Min, N-O-W, Royall, Tomah, Viroqua, West Salem, Westby, Whitehall, Wonewoc.

Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
