Description: What is the best way to measure student learning in today’s science classroom? In this series of virtual meeting sessions, we investigate a variety of methods and formats of classroom assessments to identify the qualities that make it three-dimensional as prescribed by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Participants are encouraged to bring along one of their current assessments to run it through the “Must Have” checklist of quality 3D assessments. Time will also be spent applying that knowledge to revise or create a new one.
Goal(s):
- Understand the elements of 3D assessment for NGSS
- Analyze a current assessment for NGSS
- Revise or re-write an assessment to meet the elements or create a new assessment with elements
5 Virtual Sessions:
August 24: Current assessment practices for measuring student learning of NGSS
September 21: Analyze sample assessments & identify elements of 3D assessments
October 12: Evaluate a current assessment & determine how well it meets 3D criteria
November 16: Formative and summative assessments
January 18: Rubrics, Grading, and Feedback, Oh My!
Time: 4:00PM-5:00PM
Resources: Schoology (one year access)
Cost: $300 per teacher for ALL 5 Sessions/ or $75 per session
