Are you interested in learning the basics of Adobe Photoshop?   Boscobel High School's Business Education instructor Marc Chiefari will help you navigate through several areas of Photoshop, including:

  • A breakdown of the photoshop layout, toolbar, and panels.
  • Understanding basic file types in simple terms.
  • An understanding of how to start a blank project.
  • Making simple selections to familiarize yourself with the basic tools and functions. (Activity)
  • Understanding layers. I have a file to set this up. (Activity)
  • Making pieces of an image disappear. (Activity)
  • Selective color. We have an image where we want to isolate a single color and make the rest of the image black and white. (Activity)
  • Final activity that includes the student taking a picture of themselves, removing a piece of the image, and layers it to make themself levitate.

Subway lunch will be provided after the training.

About Marc Chiefari:

My name is Marc Chiefari and prior to teaching, I worked as a sales and marketing manager. Through marketing and advertising experiences, I have developed expertise in photoshop and graphic design principles.  After five years in sales and marketing, I decided to transition into the world of education as I have found a passion for working with youth and having a positive impact on young people. I have just finished my second year as a Business Education teacher, Yearbook Advisor, and Senior Advisor at Boscobel Middle and High School. In the field of education, I have realized that Photoshop can be intimidating and overwhelming. I have also realized that Photoshop training is essential for educators who have classes related to marketing and graphic design and I would like to provide a space to learn and develop photoshop abilities in a way that will allow them to implement what they learn in 21st-century learning outcomes in their classrooms.
