Outcomes

Through dialogue, engaging learning opportunities, and ongoing professional networking, participants in this learning series will:

  • Increase racial literacy relevant to the students and families of northern Wisconsin;
  • Consider the ways in which identity shapes experiences and unconscious biases;
  • Evaluate their own comfort level engaging in conversations about race;
  • Explore effective strategies for facilitating critical conversations in the classroom;
  • Examine ways to establish a positive classroom culture where all students thrive; and
  • Align teaching and learning activities about race-related topics to the Wisconsin state standards in their specific curricular focus area(s).

Agenda (Tentative)

Day 1: Monday, August 1, 2022 (9:00 am – 2:30 pm)

"Talking About Race:"

  • Understanding race and related topics impacting northern Wisconsin communities.
  • Facilitating critical conversations in the classroom.

Day 2: Tuesday, August 2, 2022 (9:00 am – 2:30 pm)

"Teaching the Standards, Teaching About Race"

  • Establishing a positive classroom culture for all.
  • Teaching about race through a standards-aligned curriculum, high-quality texts, and effective lesson design.

Days 3 & 4: Thursday, October 27, 2022, and Thursday, February 16, 2023 (9:00 am – 2:30 pm)

"Learning By Doing and Taking Next Steps"

  • Reviewing the application of practice.
  • Networking and sharing our experiences.

Registration Fee

$350.00 per participant for the 4-day in-person learning series

 

Registration Deadline Date: Thursday, June 30, 2022

Registration cancellation must be received on or before Tuesday, July 26, 2022

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:

If a workshop has been canceled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all your contact information is correct on myQuickReg.com
