If you Google "Equity" the first definition is "the quality of being fair and impartial."

In Joe Feldman's 2019 book Grading for Equity: What it is, Why it Matters, and How it can Transform Schools and Classrooms he captures through research and tools how we can address one of the most challenging conversations in schools: the inconsistent grading policies and practices. Joe will be live for CESA 10 on January 20, 2023 at Florian Gardens from 8:30am - 3:00pm to lead us in a one-day professional learning opportunity that will address the history of grading practices, address ways we can be more accurate and bias-resistant in our practices, and support us in creating systems of grading that allow each and every learner-educator partnership to be centered on the learning journey, not just a number or letter in a grade book.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn about the history of grading.
  • Participants will reflect on their own experience with grading in their context.
  • Participants will learn 4-5 practices to create more equitable grading in their context.
  • Participants will be provided with evidence of the impact on learners with more equitable grading practices.
