The Remediation Plus System is a research based, clinically developed comprehensive curriculum (multisensory explicit systematic synthetic phonics) for reading and spelling. The R+ System teaches the 44 speech sounds in a systematic curriculum. Every lesson has direct instruction in hearing the phoneme, developing the phoneme grapheme correspondence, and segmenting the phonemes from speech. This system includes 85 sequential lesson plans - everything a teacher needs to become a powerful remediator–interventionist and a profoundly knowledgeable reading teacher.

Day 1 - Tuesday, June 21-22:

  • A review of the reading research from the NICHD findings from 1995 and the five big ideas from NRP and Orton-Gillingham pedagogy
  • A review of the R+ teacher tests  
  • Learning the articulation of the 44 speech sounds & 90 grapheme representations  
  • Learning the language of the Science of Reading, phonemes, graphemes, fluency training, blending, segmentation
  • Review of the lesson plans  

Day 2 (Wednesday, June 22, 2022 – 9AM – 3 PM):

  • Review the articulation of the sounds and how to conduct a visual-auditory drill 
  • A study of the elements of the R+ lesson plan  
  • Engaging in a lesson plan and role-playing teaching a lesson to develop comfort and mastery

All participants must bring their own R+ kit.  CESA 8 does not order the R+ kits.
Cost: $200 per participant for CESA 8 - CIA School Districts for the two-day training; $400 for all others

 

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any registration cancellation must be received 7 days prior to the scheduled date to receive a refund or avoid invoicing. CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 8 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. Registered participants not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 8 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. DIETARY ACCOMMODATIONS: Due to varied dietary restrictions, CESA 8 cannot guarantee that all special dietary accommodations can be met.
