This workshop is for paraprofessionals working with Title I and Special Education students. Participants can choose one of the three sections to attend.
Section A:
Session I—Smart Board training with Kaye Lietz. Learn the basic skills of using a Smart Board, and how to implement with students. Also, Kaye will demonstrate some excellent internet resources to use with students. This section will be great for people who want to “brush up” on their technology skills.
Session II—This session will focus on behavioral strategies to use with students in the classroom. Deb Wall, CPI instructor will share information with participants on how to deescalate student situations and “best practice” behavioral strategies to use in the classroom.
Section B:
Session I—Autism consultants Dawn Mannebach and Amber Cooper will be sharing their knowledge on “Autism”. This session will be going over basic and important background information to lead into the afternoon session.
Session II—Dawn and Amber will continue with best practice strategies to use with children on the autism spectrum. You will leave this session with strategies to use with students that you are supporting.
Section C:
Session I—This session will focus on using instructional strategies to use before, during, and after reading. The focus will be to use these strategies, so learning takes place versus just helping students get assignments completed for a grade.
Session II—This afternoon session will continue with developing instructional strategies to use with students.
