The Academy of Foundational Literacy is a comprehensive, curriculum-neutral training for PK-3 teachers and all PK-12 interventionists who work with struggling readers. This course is designed to empower primary and intervention teachers to make informed instructional decisions about evidence-aligned early literacy practices.
Each session will build a teacher’s capacity to:
- Develop a knowledge base that empowers them to make informed assessment and instructional decisions
- Understand the progression of literacy skills that lead to grade-level proficiency
- Design high-impact, data-informed, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners
Course Information:
Assessment practices and instructional strategies related to each topic are embedded within each course. All courses build upon each other and integrate previous learning.
- COURSE 1: The Reading Brain, Oral Language, and the Power of Dialogic Reading
- COURSE 2: Phonological Awareness
- COURSE 3: Phonics, Word Study
- COURSE 4: Vocabulary & Comprehension, Evidence-Aligned Practices
- COURSE 5: Putting It All Together! Data-Informed, Differentiated Lesson Creation!
Location: CESA 9, Tomahawk.

$500 $250/series for CESA 9 CSI Members
$600 $350/series for non-CESA 9 CSI Members
*The special pricing is due to ESSER III Motion 57 grant funds. Attendance at all 5 sessions is required for you to receive this reduced pricing. Sub Teacher costs due to this training can be covered through the Motion 57 grant funds as well.
