CESA 5 Book Club: Reading the Award Winners

For 100 years, lovers of children’s literature have anxiously awaited the annual announcement of the Newbery Medal winner for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. In honor of this anniversary, we invite you to join us and other book lovers in our region to read and discuss the 2021 award winners. 

We will read and discuss the Newbery Medal winner and the Caldecott Medal winner (TBA in January 2022). Prior to our first meeting, the group will determine two additional titles to read and discuss from the following lists: 

• National Book Award Young People’s Literature winner 

• Michael L Printz Award winner 

• Pura Belpré Award Children’s Narrative or Young Adult Narrative winner

• Coretta Scott King Award Author or Illustrator winner

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
