September 17 provides teachers with the opportunity to meet other teachers who will be part of the web-based discussion group. The first day participants will set goals for the up-coming year and define their steps for implementation of the structure to help students develop the daily habits of independent literacy. The Daily 5 and CAFÉ written by Gail Bushey and Joan Moser will be referenced throughout this year-long professional conversation. Selected readings and websites will be part of on-line/off site discussions. Participants will share their classroom practices, challenges, and successes over the course of the year. In April participants will have a final face-to-face meeting to share resources, celebrate their colleagues achievements, evaluate their professional development over the year and set goals for the future.
***Participants maybe eligible to receive 1 graduate credit by attending the both the September and the April face-to-face discussion sessions and four of the seven web-based discussion sessions, and completing a self assessment and written assignment
