Wisconsin passed Act 30 with the requirement that all schools teach about the Holocaust or other genocides once in grades 5-8 and once in grades 9-12 in social studies classes.

In this workshop, the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center (HERC) from Milwaukee will be hosting a professional development to prepare educators to implement Act 30. Topics include Holocaust history, methodology for teaching the Holocaust and other genocides -including the 1994 genocide in Rwanda- and a workshop on their new teacher training tool, the Holocaust Education Map. The interactive, hands-on workshops will provide educators with tangible resources, lesson plans, and exercises they can use in their classroom.

Everyone will leave with all that is needed to meet the requirements of Act 30 and educate our kids about essential historical knowledge.
