This 4-Part virtual series will focus on practical activities for school and home, as well as accommodations for reading & writing.
Day 1 - Jan 11, 2022 - 90 minutes - Instruction/Remediation Refresher & Practical Activity
During this workshop we will provide a brief review/overview of appropriate instruction for a student with dyslexia or characteristics of dyslexia. We will also look at a beginning activity that teachers can use to begin implementing a strategy that can benefit all students in a classroom, including students with dyslexia.
Participants will leave this workshop with an activity to try with a student or group of students.
Day 2 - Jan 18, 2022 - 90 minutes - Practical Activities for School
This workshop will begin with a time for participants to share their experience trying the activity from the previous workshop. We will present new activities that build from the previous workshop that teachers can use in their classroom, small groups or one-on-one.
Participants will leave this workshop with an activity to try with a student or group of students.
Day 3 - Jan 25, 2022 - 90 Minutes - Practical Activities for School & Home
This workshop will begin with a time for participants to share their experience trying the activity from the previous workshop. Additional activities will be presented and ways to engage parents and learning at home will be shared.
Participants will leave this workshop with an activity to try with a student or group of students.
Day 4 - Feb 1st - 90 Minutes - Accommodations
This workshop will begin with a time for participants to share their experience trying the activity from the previous workshop. During this workshop we will discuss the importance of accommodations and training of the student, teachers and parents. We will look at various resources for accommodations and take a look at a few of the accommodations for accessing reading and producing written work.
