This training will be delivered in a flipped format using Google Classroom and Zoom. Videos containing content with reflection questions will be sent out one week before the Zoom meeting as a way to front-load information and prepare for discussion and collaboration with other participants during our session.

The completion of this one-day, facilitated training curriculum qualifies teacher mentors to provide induction support to new-to-profession and new-to-district teachers as required in Wis. Administrative Code sec. PI34.  It was developed collaboratively with CESA staff and practicing teacher mentors.  It is a researched-based, foundational mentor training.

Training outcomes are:

  • Explain the role of a mentor and elements of a successful mentoring relationship.
  • Explain how quality mentoring and induction supports beginning teacher development and retention.
  • Assess beginning teacher needs and plan for timely support.
  • Identify key mentor supports related to the Educator Effectiveness System.

DPI does require that mentors have a Tier III - Lifetime Educator License
