Dates: October 22, 2021 and December 3, 2021

Description: For educators new to SIOP. This workshop provides you an introductory learning experience designed to help you to be more effective in the classroom with your ELL students using the SIOP Model. The class will address the following topics: WIDA standards, Language acquisition, Sheltered strategies, teaching language through content and assessing language and content, reading, TAG, and RtI for ELL Standards.

Schedule:

  • Session 1: October 22
  • Session 2: December 3
  • Session 3: CESA 2 Sheltered Instruction Online Module to complete by January 29
  • Session 4: Individual Coaching Session to be completed by January 29

Price is $75 for those in network. Nonmembers pay $300.

About the facilitator:

 

 

Robin Rivas has worked as a teacher and administrator for 34 years with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Robin is a certified ESL teacher and administrator who is bilingual (Spanish/English). She did her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she majored in education (ESL). Subsequently, she received a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis on multicultural education from UWM. Robin has recently received her Ed.D in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Walden University with a research focus on RTI and English Learners.

 

 

 

 



In-Person Events: Participants who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear a mask when attending events at CESA 2. Participants who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask when attending events at CESA 2. Please be respectful of other participants’ comfort levels. Until further notice, workshops will be limited to 50 participants. Social distancing should be self-monitored at each participant’s comfort level.


Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
