The second meeting with be a Webinar presentation on the topic of Music and Autism: Connection in a Disconnected World, followed by a general discussion. A total of 0.2 CEU's can be earned at this meeting.

SLP Program Support meetings are held throughout the school year; they provide a great learning opportunity in a pleasant setting to discuss pertinent SL issues with colleagues, area school-based SLP's. Overview:
The use of music to teach children with autism is widespread, but there is little research in speech-language pathology proving its power. This program gives an overview of current music research and principles for using music in speech and language therapy. Get practical strategies for using music and songs to promote growth in attention, engagement, social skills, imitation, following directions, answering and asking questions, commenting, increasing vocabulary, and learning daily routines. This will be followed by a general discussion. A total of 0.2 CEU's can be earned at this meeting.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:
• list research studies addressing the use of music with children with autism
• name three components of a verbally enticing song
• discuss three areas of intervention with children with autism that can be enhanced with music
• list and sing 10 songs used to enhance communication skills in children with autism

* $50 per participant for CESA #12 Central EEN Leadership Consortium districts (Includes: Ashland, Bayfield, Butternut, Chequamegon, Drummond, Hayward, Hurley, Maple, Mellen, Mercer Northwood, Phillips, Solon Springs, South Shore, Superior and Washburn.)

* $75 per participant for Non consortium districts/agencies

Regular Registration (After Friday, November 4, 2011)
* $60.00 per participant for CESA #12 Central EEN Leadership districts (Includes: Ashland, Bayfield, Butternut, Chequamegon, Drummond, Hayward, Hurley, Maple, Mellen, Mercer Northwood, Phillips, Solon Springs, South Shore, Superior and Washburn.)

* $85 per participant for Non consortium districts/agencies

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:

If a workshop has been canceled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all your contact information is correct on myQuickReg.com
