The primary goal is to increase the knowledge base across the region to create supportive learning environments for multilingual learners with and without special educational needs. The aim of this initial groundwork is to introduce participants to classroom-based research, strategies, resources and frameworks they can use in their practice.
Cristina Sanchez Lopez will be streaming in virtually. All participants are welcome to join us in person at CESA 7 or join virtually.

Teams will examine seven integral factors that impact achievement and well-being for MLs:
- Learning Environment
- Personal and Family Factors
- Cross-Cultural Factors
- Oral Language and Literacy Factors
- Academic Achievement and Instruction
- Physical and Psychological Factors
- Previous Schooling Factors
Through discussion of case study examples, MTSS teams will reflect on ways to integrate the seven factors framework to make existing systems more culturally and linguistically responsive. Participants will develop and use take-away tools and resources for use with school-based teams to support information gathering and interpretation, problem-solving, development of supports and intervention as well as assessment along with the seven factors.
There will be a follow-up implementation session with Cristina Sanchez-Lopez and Theresa Young the following fall.
