Cost: Free to all Wisconsin Educators. All expenses are covered through the Education Stabilization Funds.

Description:

As part of the Instruction in the Online Modality WDLC series, this session is designed to support educators as they design learning for students, whether in person or remotely.

During the micro-course Ensuring Data Privacy & Student Safety Online, educators will learn how to ensure students get the maximum benefit from the digital resources used to teach courses online.  Keeping their students in mind, teachers will create a checklist to be used in identifying opportunities for equitable access, and develop or adjust resources to meet accessibility guidelines.

Learning Targets

  • Evaluate and reconfigure or eliminate any app, website, product, or service that does not protect student data.
  • Teach students digital safety skills to protect themselves in online environments.
  • Teach students what to do when they encounter inappropriate content online.

Micro-course requirements include three synchronous whole group virtual sessions on the dates and times listed as well as independent work between sessions. The estimated time commitment is 15 hours.
