Agency is the ability to make choices and take an active role in determining one’s path, rather than solely being the product of circumstances. To equip students for environments that require high agency and to help them become self-directed learners, teachers can introduce structures such as the Learning Cycle, SMART goals, the Challenge Donut, Mantras, the 3BB4T Rule, and a Checklist of Habits.
Learning Target
During this micro-course, educators will develop, implement, and reflect on structures that help to build student agency.
The estimated time commitment is 15 hours. This asynchronous course can be completed at any time prior to or after December 20, 2021

Audience: K-12 Classroom Educators (Face-to-Face, Blended Learning, Virtual), Library Media Specialists, Curriculum and Instruction Specialists, Special Education Leaders and Educators, School Counselors
Cost: These micro-courses are FREE to all WISCONSIN EDUCATORS. All expenses are covered through the Education Stabilization Funds.

*Micro-course requirements include three synchronous, whole-group virtual sessions on the dates and times listed as well as independent work between sessions. The estimated time commitment is 15 hours for each course.
