What is a 3 + 1 High School?

In a 3 + 1 high school, students are able to earn 30+ college credits either at a technical or four-year college via dual enrollment and AP course offerings.

Why make this happen?

  • Allow high school students to take college courses and earn college credits while still attending high school.
  • Boost college access and degree attainment, especially for students typically underrepresented in higher education.
  • Prepare students for the social and academic requirements of college while having the additional supports available to high school students
  • Increase likelihood to attain a college degree.
  • Reduce the overall cost of college and may increase the number of low socioeconomic status students who can attend and complete college.

How do we get teachers approved?

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has imposed new credential requirements for high school dual credit instructors going into effect in 2023.  Learn how to navigate the Masters Degree, Masters Degree +18, or co-teaching with a University Professor.

What are your options?

  • Technical College Dual Credit via Advanced Standing, Transcripted Courses, Start College Now
  • Dual Credit Course via 4-year college via CCIHS, CAPP, Early College Credit Program
  • Advanced Placement Courses
  • International Baccalaureate Program
