Going Gradeless

Blended Learning: The course will begin on January 31, 2022 and finish on March 14, 2022

Synchronous Meeting Dates: February 7, 2022, February 21, 2022 and March 7, 2022. 3:30- 4:30 PM each date.

*An email to join the Canvas course will be sent prior to start date*

DESCRIPTION: Are grades necessary for learning?  What would happen if we stopped giving grades (at least until the end of the learning cycle)?  What strategies could we use in lieu of grading to ensure students are learning the content and skills necessary?  In this course, participants will dig into those questions and apply “gradeless” strategies in their classroom.

OUTCOMES:

  • Participants will understand the purposes (and non-purposes) of grades.

  • Participants will understand the benefits and struggles of going “gradeless”.

  • Participants will apply learning to their classroom and reflect on culture and achievement changes.
