Equitable Teaching and Learning Practices in English Language Arts
Two-Part Virtual Workshop

Educational equity is at the center of the 2020 Standards for English Language Arts. This two-part virtual workshop series will support ELA teachers as they plan engaging and equitable learning opportunities for students at the secondary level.

Day 1 Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn how the 2020 standards and shifts in English Language Arts align with DPI’s Instructional Practice Guide for Equitable Teaching and Learning.

  • Participants will view a demonstration lesson and will reflect on equitable instructional practices.

  • Participants will prepare to design and share a lesson that strategically incorporates the revised ELA standards and shifts along with instructional practices from the DPI practice guide.

Day 2 Outcomes:

  • Participants will share their lesson design and will leave day two with a bank of example practices from colleagues throughout CESA 5.

  • Participants will have an opportunity to collaborate and network with regional ELA teachers around best practices in equitable teaching and learning.

Target Audience: ELA Teachers in Grades 6-12; C&I Directors and Instructional Coaches/Leaders

Registration Fee: (Two-Part Series) $50 for CESA 5 School Improvement Services Members
