The Academy of Foundational Literacy is a comprehensive, curriculum-neutral training for PK-3 teachers or those interventionists who work with struggling readers. This course is designed to empower primary and intervention teachers to make informed instructional decisions about evidence-aligned early literacy practices.
Each session will build a teacher’s capacity to:
- Develop a knowledge base that empowers them to make informed assessment and instructional decisions
- Understand the progression of literacy skills that lead to grade-level proficiency
- Design high-impact, data-informed, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners
Course Information:
Assessment practices and instructional strategies related to each topic are embedded within each course.
- COURSE 1: How Reading Develops and the Role of Oral Language
- COURSE 2: Phonological & Phonemic Awareness
- COURSE 3: Phonics & Word Recognition
- COURSE 4: Vocabulary & Comprehension
Audience: PK-3 grade teachers, special education teachers, interventionists, reading specialists, literacy coaches.
Cost (lunch will be provided):
$400 for the series for CESA 9 Continuous School Improvement Members
$500 for the series for non-CESA 9 Continuous School Improvement Members
