A great diversity exists among learners. The educational community has a responsibility to identify and develop the talents of children who are gifted and talented in the areas of general intellectual ability, specific academic ability, creativity, artistic ability and leadership. Many schools are struggling to meet these needs. This network will provide professional and collegial support for those interested in the education of gifted and talented students. The focus will be to find out about effective resources and learning and teaching strategies to enhance education in schools. This will provide opportunities to network with other teachers of gifted and talented students and share experiences, ideas and best practice. Participants will be updated on the latest local, regional, and national initiatives. Each half day session will have a meeting agenda determined by participant needs and an opportunity to network with peers.

  • What process does your district/school use to identify gifted/talented students?

  • What types of programs or opportunities does your district/school offer for students in the core subjects?
  • What types of programs or opportunities does your district/school offer for students in the arts and drama?
  • What types of programs or opportunities does your district/school offer for students in the area of leadership?
  • What resources are available?
