Description: As the number of English learners increases in schools across the United States, educators are seeking effective ways to help them succeed in K-12 ESL, content area, and bilingual classrooms. Research shows that when teachers implement the SIOP Model, English learners' academic performance improves.

This is a 4-day series, with 2 virtual synchronous sessions:

Best Practices for Teaching ELs: Foundations of SIOP
Session 1: Virtual, Dec. 3rd, 9am-11am and 12pm-2pm with supported individual work-time 2-3 pm
Session 2: Virtual, Jan. 6th, 9am-11am and 12pm-2pm with supported individual work-time 2-3 pm
Session 3: CESA 2 Sheltered Instruction Online Module to be complete by Feb. 12th
Session 4: Individual Coaching Session to be completed by Feb. 12th

Cost: $60 for Title III consortium members, $139 for all others

 

About the Facilitators:

Gretchen Lettau joins CESA 2 as a consultant in the Language and Culture Center of Excellence supporting the areas of Language Acquisition, English Learners, and Dual Language Education. Gretchen has worked as a teacher and coordinator for 16 years with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. In additton to her work with school districts, Gretchen is a leader in the state in Dual Language and EL Education. Gretchen has taught EL classes for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh as an adjunct professor, is a member of the statewide WIABE work group, and served as a member of Governor Evers Advisory Council to Support Linguistically Diverse Students statewide committee.

 

 

 



Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

CESA 2 does not assume liability for adverse reactions to food consumed or items one may come into contact with while eating at a CESA 2 event.
