Expert teaching, teamwork and networking within this professional series will hone the skills necessary to effectively leverage teacher-leader passions and expertise to guide change, build resilience, and increase student achievement. We will meet virtually. Experts will join the group for a 2-hour webinar packed full of relevant leadership and coaching content and high quality learning activities.


Lori Cohen, Bright Morning Consulting: Coaching For Equity  [October 22nd -- 2 sessions!]

Lori will kick off this series with a focus on Coaching for Equity: Conversations that Change Practice. (This day will be split into two sessions.  Part 1 in the morning and part 2 in the afternoon.) Learn strategies for talking about race, power, and systems of oppression, strategies which lead to changes in teacher’s practice. Discover what equity is and what it should look like in your school; explore how to recognize and prevent inequities in the classroom and school communities; share tools to empower the change making that contribute to an equitable environment.

Stephanie Affinito: Transforming Teaching and Learning With Digital Tools and Technology [December 3rd]

The COVID-19 pandemic forced educators to reimagine teaching and learning in remote, distance and virtual environments. While filled with challenges, it also gave us new opportunities to rethink coaching and leading in virtual spaces. In this session, Stephanie will explore virtual coaching practices and tech tools to support collaborative learning communities, shift professional learning online and engage in virtual coaching cycles.


Jennifer Allen: Supporting New Teachers [January 28]

Jennifer will share practical ideas on how to support new teachers while honoring the innovation, idealism, and optimistic enthusiasm that they bring to the classroom.  She will help us explore how to foster relationships with new teachers—even before school begins; create learning environments for new teachers to be reflective practitioners; coaching new teachers in their classrooms and providing opportunities for them to observe their peers in action; and, facilitating professional development opportunities where new and veteran teachers learn alongside one another.


Thomas Levine: Overcome Professional Learning Community Challenges [March 11]

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) can get stuck and encounter obstacles or plateau as a result of five common challenges: incoherence, insularity, unequal participation, congeniality, and privacy. Thomas will describe for us how these five challenges play out in schools. He will facilitate discussion to help leaders reflect on these challenges and provide strategies to address them in your own PLCs.  Topics will include coherence and follow-through; overcoming insularity to ensure new input; ensuring equal participation and maximal learning; moving past congeniality; and, deprivatizing practice.


Katherine Casey Spengler: Eight Ways To Study Instruction [May 11]

Katherine Casey Spengler will offer you eight ways to study instruction with your teachers. She will dig into the strategies that are vital to successful coaching and that will broaden your coaching repertoire.  Katherine will help you visualize each kind of activity; include the rationale and guiding questions for each to help make decision making transparent; and, offer examples of how other coaches use these ways with their teachers.  The question is, as always, what makes sense for your work?

Literacy Coaches/Leaders Network
Join us for the Literacy Leaders Network to stay informed on literacy issues and initiatives at the local, state, regional, and national levels. Participants will explore best practices and   tested strategies and tools to support professional and collaborative learning. Using the power of this professional learning  community, participants will grow their knowledge and expand their leadership, coaching, and instructional practices. Examining strategies, resources, and tools will enable us to create solutions for the most pressing needs and challenges of our school communities, teams, and students. Participants will be contacted prior to each meeting to provide input regarding meeting topics and activities.

Math Coaches/Leaders Network
Join other math leaders and math instructional coaches for the Math Leaders Network to stay informed on powerful math instructional practices.  Through the network, and with training from the CESA 6 Math Consultants, participants will grow their knowledge of both mathematics and instructional coaching techniques for the math classroom making them better instructional leaders.


SPED/Behavior Coach and SEL Leaders Network
Come join your peers in reviewing current trends and best practices to help support educators working with students who have learning and/or social-emotional-behavioral challenges. Whether you are a SPED program support teacher, a behavior coach/interventionist, or a support teacher/coach, this network is for you! Participation is complimentary, but registration is required to join. This SPED Program Support Network will be facilitated by Lisa Lesselyong, Director of the CESA 6 SEL Center.  Shared leadership will be encouraged throughout the year as participants will be asked to provide input regarding topics, activities, etc; and to share meeting facilitation, assume roles and responsibilities, etc.. We welcome you in advance to come learn and network with your peers.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
