THE NEXT STEP FORWARD IN READING INTERVENTIONS: RISE and RISE UP

Blended Professional Learning Programs

Jan Richardson, Kathy Schmitt, and Anne Pagel will guide you through the RISE and RISE UP Frameworks which offer intensive, short-term targeted instruction for students who are English language learners, striving readers, or those who are not yet reading at grade level. Join them to learn the Frameworks which will help students gain the confidence, proficiency, and skills that they need to excel as readers and to exit long-term intervention.

Learning Program Objectives:

  • Understand the principals and practices of RISE and/or RISE UP
  • Acquire the planning skills and tools to organize for and implement RISE and/or RISE UP
  • Acquire the teaching skills and tools to establish routines, assess student needs and progress, and accelerate student growth
  • Understand the importance of including the home reading and family engagement components

Registration Fees:

  • RISE Professional Learning Program Fee: $700 per participant
  • RISE UP Professional Learning Program Fee: $700 per participant
  • RISE and RISE UP Professional Learning Programs Fee: $775 per participant

CESA 6 CANCELLATION POLICY

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days prior to the start of the series in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days prior to the series start, a refund will be issued minus $50 per participant.  No refunds will be given for persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of any session. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel an event due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.

Jan Richardson is a leading expert in guided reading and reading interventions. As the developer of RISE and RISE UP frameworks, Jan has worked with many schools across the country, supporting their implementation of the intervention frameworks. Jan continues to witness many students achieve accelerated growth!


 

Kathy Schmitt, CESA 6 Literacy Center Director, is a former Reading Recovery teacher, interventionist, Reading Specialist and teacher of students with learning and cognitive disabilities. She applies her experiences and expertise to support teachers through the implementation of Fountas & Pinnell's Leveled Literacy Intervention and through the implementation of Comprehensive Intervention Model. Kathy is now supporting teacher teams through the implementation of RISE and RISE UP frameworks.

Anne Pagel is a CESA 6 Literacy Center Consultant and Title I Coordinator for CESA 6. Anne’s teaching experiences include Early Childhood Special Education, Kindergarten, 4th grade, and Title I Reading at the elementary and middle school levels. She was a Title I Teacher, Literacy Coach, and Reading Specialist in the Kewaskum School District. Anne has provided professional development, coaching, and training in Fountas & Pinnell’s Leveled Literacy Intervention and Benchmark Assessment. Anne works in schools across Wisconsin coaching special education teachers as they gain expertise in reading intervention.
