Literacy Walk-throughs can help principals and literacy leaders monitor and support literacy instruction in their schools more effectively. Walk-throughs involve observing student engagement, teaching practices, and learning environments intended to develop student literacy in the context of curricular outcomes. Literacy leaders can use the information retrieved from an analysis of several literacy walk-throughs to identify topics for additional professional development or opportunities for coaching and mentoring to support the staff. With the expansion of the Common Core standards into every class it is critical for principals/literacy leaders to be familiar with what literacy instruction should include and how to assess the quality of classroom literacy instruction quickly and effectively. This workshop can be used to build a school leader's literacy knowledge, to learn tools to conduct walk-throughs, and to provide guidelines for structuring school-wide professional development.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Any registration cancellation must be received 7 days prior to the scheduled date to receive a refund or avoid invoicing. CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 8 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. Registered participants not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee.
CESA 8 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all of your contact information is correct in myQuickReg.com.
