CESA 9 developed the Substitute Teacher Training in response to a Legislative Bill which permits the temporary teacher certification of individuals with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in areas other than education. Our training, held at CESA 9 in Tomahawk, is designed to prepare prospective substitute teachers with in-depth information about the substitute's role. Participants who complete the training and practice will receive a certificate of completion. During the workshop, participants will be guided through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s application process for the Substitute Teacher License.
Benefits of our two-day training:
- Ability to identify and understand the professional responsibilities and roles of a substitute teacher.
- Ability to identify and demonstrate successful classroom organization, management, and behavioral strategies.
- Understand the importance of student safety.
- Able to prepare and conduct a lesson.
- Understand the legal responsibilities of a substitute teacher.
- Ability to use and demonstrate appropriate communication protocols and procedures during the school day.
Please be sure to have the following when you attend:
- Laptop and power cord
- Access to your email (login and password)
- Copies of college transcripts (Bachelor's or Associate's Degree)
TIME: 8:30 am-3:30 pm (each day)
COST: $175.00/person for the 2-day workshop (this includes lunch & materials). PLEASE NOTE: There is a separate $125 DPI fee when you apply for the Substitute Teacher License at the end of the second day of training (please bring a credit card for this).
