Academic Language for Reading Comprehension and Content Literacy
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily

Session Two: Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 - Oral Language and Reading Comprehension
Session Three: Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 - Academic Language and Reading Comprehension
Session Four: Thursday, March 11, 2021 - Strategies for Teaching Multisyllabic Words
Session Five:  Thursday, April 29, 2021 - Content Literacy: Writing Strategies for Critical Thinking and Reading Comprehension

 

As students move through school they must be able to demonstrate increasing sophistication of their language and literacy skills across all content areas.  Active engagement in class discussions and independent reading and writing hinge on their proficiency of academic language. This NEW academy will engage participants in the study of the underlying elements of language comprehension and academic language that contribute to successful reading comprehension and content learning.

Deepest emersion in this content will occur if participants enroll in the academy as a series; hower, sessions are also available for registration as individual workshops.

Cost: $100.00 per person (see below for update),  per workshop, for 2020-21 CESA 8 – CIA Member School Districts; $200.00 for all others per workshop

For the following dates in this series  12/15/20, 1/28/21, 3/11/21, and 4/29/21 the registration fee will be 2 for 1. Bring a friend, the 2nd person from the same district will get in for free  (Cost is being deferred by Grant Funding). CANCELLATION POLICY: Any registration cancellation must be received 7 days prior to the scheduled date to receive a refund or avoid invoicing. CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 8 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. Registered participants not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 8 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. DIETARY ACCOMMODATIONS: Due to varied dietary restrictions, CESA 8 cannot guarantee that all special dietary accommodations can be met.
