Leading for Learning #1
Location: Virtual

We are living and teaching in remarkable times, and the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives and how we do school. We have learned much and there is still much more to learn. Know that the educators at both the DPI and CESA are learning right along with you and are working hard to be responsive to the needs of Wisconsin educators. As such, the Leading for Learning Series for 2020-21 has shifted to focus on the best practices related to teaching and learning during the pandemic. The Solution Tree speakers have graciously stepped aside to allow this series to address the immediate needs of Wisconsin students and teachers.

The focus has shifted to the timely question of: How do we provide an equitable education for all learners during COVID-19 and beyond?

The topics by event for this year’s Leading for Learning Series are:

  • August 18 or 19, 2020: Cultivate the conditions for learning in-person or virtually

  • October 6 or 7, 2020: Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction

  • January 12 or 13, 2021: Plan and use assessment of and for learning

  • April 6 or 7, 2021: Use reflection and data to communicate about learning and to plan forward

Some important notes about the changes:

  • All learning sessions will be virtual, with the possibility of flexible participation options available for the last three dates.

  • Dates have not changed.

  • Speakers will be DPI staff with expertise in teaching and learning.

  • Teams continue to be encouraged to attend to learn and plan together, and the series is open to all Wisconsin public school educators, even if they didn’t attend last year.

Registration is available on MyQuickReg, and connection links will be sent to registrants prior to the August event(s). Please note that each team member must register in order to be sent the links. If you  previously registered, your registration will stay active unless you notify us of changes. We hope to see you there!

* Recommended team composition: 4–12 teacher leaders and building/district administrators working side by side to improve academic outcomes for all students. All team members must register individually.
