In this three-day institute, we will introduce you to a system for teaching students that creates authentic experiences in reading, thinking, talking, writing and reflecting. In our opening sessions you will develop an understanding of the system's underpinnings, envision the look and feel of the environment, and acquire a classroom guide to assessment.  In breakout sessions, you will join grade level colleagues to learn how to teach the large group structures of Interactive Read Aloud, Reading Mini-lessons, Shared Reading and Phonics, Spelling and Word Study.  We will take a deep dive into the structure of and practices within small group guided reading. Finally, we will explore how to set up and manage book clubs. In our closing sessions, we will delve into the role of a Reader's Notebook as you teach readers to write about their reading. You will learn how to leverage the Prompting Guide to meet your reader's needs. You will leave with a picture of a year-long plan for your grade level.
