Dr. Mark Schwingle, DPI Education Consultant - Gifted/Talented, will be here to facilitate a conversation about district gifted and talented programming. Resources, strategies, and practices will be shared for the development of a G/T program or the enhancement of current programming. 

 

Topics will include but not be limited to the following: 

  • Determining local excellence gaps;

  • Culturally and linguistically responsive approaches (e.g. TOPS) for the identification of high-ability/high-potential students in need of additional academic challenge;

  • Methods for supporting newly identified students, including specific differentiation approaches for gifted learners; and 

  • How to effectively engage families of high-ability/high-potential students.

 

The first 30 registered participants will receive the following free resources:

  • Book - Differentiation for Gifted Learners: Going Beyond the Basics by Heacox & Cash

  • Book - Powerful Partnerships: A Teacher’s Guide to Engaging Families for Student Success by Mapp, Carver, and Lander

  • Identification Tool - U-STARS~PLUS TOPS

 

Participants should bring a fully-charged electronic device and district G/T programming plan.

Cost: $25 for CIA member districts, $50 for all others

CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances.
