On July 23, 2018, the U.S. Senate approved legislation to reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The new law, The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V, for short), took effect on July 1, 2019. This marked the beginning of the one-year transition period (2019-20) before all of the Perkins V changes to into effect.

One major shift in the Perkins V requirements is the creation of a Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA). Join us at CESA 8 as we explore the six components of the local needs assessment. Local employers will be joining us to brainstorm new ways for businesses to support district CTE departments and the academic and career planning work being done across the region.

If you're already on the CESA 8 Education for Economic Development advisory committee, this meeting will run directly after that one.
