In this grades K-8 workshop, we’ll be discussing connections between new social studies and science standards, particularly with inquiry. In each of these new sets of state standards, students are asking questions, designing investigations, evaluating claims, and using evidence. In both, we emphasize inquiry processes where students should be connecting with their local communities.
This workshop will explore these connections and what they’d look like in the classroom. It’s most appropriate for the K-8 educator with a generalist background. Here’s one sample document we’ll discuss that details some of these connections between practices in each subject.
